A Hormones 101 talk - Naturopath Aranka Jones

From hot flashes to insomnia, heavy periods to vaginal dryness, menopause isn’t exactly a walk in the park! Your metabolism and libido are going off the rails and you’re suddenly worried about brittle bones, blood pressure and heart attacks. One minute you’re cruising through your 40’s, your career on fire, kids almost off to college and the next minute YOU’RE on fire as you frantically Dr. Google your symptoms at 3am during yet another sweaty, sleepless night.

One minute calcium is good for you, the next it’s dangerous. Everyone is going keto or plant based but you love carbs and meat. To top it all off Gwyneth Paltrow wants you to steam your vagina.

If any of this sounds familiar then you won't want to miss this talk!

Aranka Jones is a naturopathic doctor who loves separating science from snake oil. She educates and empowers her patients to optimize their health with evidence based integrative medicine. 22/Multisport 2012/2013 (July 4-8) CAD$449 Purchase required to enroll

The purpose of these camps is to build physical literacy through great coaching, an engaging environment, and a variety of stimuli.
There is no doubt that athleticism builds self-confidence and prepares children for life`s challenges as well as an overall positive experience in physical activity. Missing the window for physical literacy will inhibit the ability to optimize skills and lessen the chance of healthy living to adulthood. Sports specialization at an early age limits kids from exposure to new activities with different learning scenarios and acquiring new skills. Using the Collingwood trail system campers discover all Collingwood has to offer. A wide variety of activities will be taught by experts in their field. A tuned and functioning bike and a solid ability to ride is necessary for all ages at this camp.

Primal Strength CAD$239 Purchase required to enroll

This is uniquely designed to explore movement and discover what
your body is capable of. The intent is to establish a strong
foundation of body awareness, strength, and coordination by
focusing on the core primal movement patterns being the Squat,
Hinge, Push, Pull, Weighted Carries and Locomotion.

Over the course of the 6 weeks, you can expect to be challenged
both physically and mentally, learn how to master proper
technique of the fundamental movements, and feel supported in
an encouraging environment. During the first session, we will
evaluate your strength and mobility to establish your starting
point. Progress will continue to be monitored throughout the
program, so that by the end of 6 weeks you can see what type of
improvements you’ve made. In the subsequent sessions, you can
expect to learn simple movements that build progressively over
the course of the 6 weeks towards more challenging variations,
keeping in mind that each movement can modified to meet
individual needs.

The program will run twice per week, and will be set to a small
group of 6 adults. This format was selected to emphasize two
important factors that encourage long-term sustainable change;
consistency and community. It requires consistent effort over an
extended period of time in order to move towards mastery, and
build strength that lasts. Furthermore, it helps to participate in a
supportive community that keeps you accountable to the goals
you’ve set, while allowing you to have fun throughout the process.
